Under the guidance of Sh. Abdullah Sabree (Chief Instructor), UMMA Martial Arts’ specialty lays in its unique use of the Holy Quran and Sunnah, and the examples they provide to help all who train InshAllah; to build, to achieve, succeed and grow, both as individuals and as members of a greater society, whether young or old. The UMMA Martial Arts Precept is:
“KNOW THE NATURE OF SELF, IN ORDER TO DEFEND SELF”
– Sh. Abdullah Sabree
UMMA gives students a clear and easily definable structure as well as a set of requirements for training based on Islamic principles of character development, cooperative learning and brotherhood/sisterhood. UMMA Martial Arts as an auxiliary system of education focuses on: Gross motor functions, dynamic movement, the integration of the left and right side of the brain, conflict resolution and problem solving, creative thinking, cooperative learning (mentoring), leadership and much more.
The skills that UMMA Martial Arts students study, learn, acquire and practice on a regular basis, typically render a field of interesting results over a fairly short period of time. For instance, improved knowledge, self-confidence, discipline, leadership, general thinking skills, enhanced concentration, coordination, equilibrium, adeb (manners & etiquette) as well as character (akhlaq).
