Jeewan Chanicka

Jeewan Chanicka is the Superintendent of Equity, Anti-Racism & Anti-Oppression in Toronto District School Board. He has had a long and active history in the supporting and leading in various organizations across the Muslim and wider communities. He has been active organizing and working for social change, in anti-war and anti-poverty spaces; speaking alongside Indigenous Nations and peoples for Indigenous Self governance and determination; actively working to address Anti Black racism and racism in all its forms and to counter Islamophobia, Homophobia and all of the isms. Overall, he continues to stand up for Human Rights of all people. He is one of the co-leaders of the Coalition Against White Supremacy and Islamophobia. He was a recent torchbearer for the PanAm games and interestingly, he was one of the very first performers in the inaugural year of MuslimFest!
