Synopsis: In the summer of 2011, 30 Palestinian, Israeli and Canadian University Students gathered on
Canada’s West Coast to participate in a unique dialogue and filmmaking experience. Living
and learning together for four weeks, they broke down barriers and created short films about the
conflict. In The Presence of Absence: Perceptions and ideas of the “other” are explored as two
girls meet in the space that divides them.

Synopsis: Saleh, a 21 year old university student who left his parents due to neglect from a young age
realizes that he misses them while hanging out with friends on New Year’s Eve. He decides to
write a letter to them, explaining his conflicted emotions, for he still feels it was their neglect that
caused him to leave. He finally writes, “All I ever wanted was for you to listen”, and sends it.
