Profoundly known as the “Baron of Batik”, Sarkasi Said is a well-renounced international Batik artist whose works have been exhibited in the USA, France, Japan, New Zealand, and in Southeast Asia. Moreover, collection of his works can be found in National Museum of Singapore, as well as in public and private collections.

Early on, his extensive and self-taught techniques of style, and utilization of dye resistant methods, materials and skills in Batik, he formed his own distinctive pattern which makes his work more vibrant and catch the eyes. The importance of batik in Malay culture, and his characteristic work of art, earned him to design magnificent works of batik.

To name a few, among his numerous achievements, some of them include setting Guinness World Record for world’s largest batik painting and designing a Singapore national dress with orchid motifs for a National Trades Union Congress initiative- earning him the title of “Baron of Batik”.
